On Thursday Tomas Ivarsson, one of the editors of the book Commercial Grading of Timber – Grading Rules, gave the theoretical part of his workshop based on the book. The book is really a handbook and participants learned how to use the book as a guide to sorting timber, with quality control in mind.
The weather was beautiful that day so the workshop was broken up by an excursion to Reykir‘s hot spring area, the FORHOT project in the Reykir forest and finally a visit to the Bananahouse, a tropical collection of plants.
After an afternoon of lectures the group hiked up to Reykjadalur valley, where many of the participants bathed in the warm natural river. The day was concluded by a very nice dinner at Reykir.
